In addition to this user-centric design approach, Frequentis’ long-established reporting process and hazard & safety issue database provide a continuously updated set of specific and effective basic safety requirements related to Human Factors (HF) for operator positions, together with built-in mechanisms to ensure the reliability of human-system interaction.
These HF-related basic safety requirements are mandatory and assigned to each product/project development team, in order to ensure that user interface design and training will support users in such a way as to minimise the opportunity for human errors as well as cognitive and physical stress / strain.
Within the projects, whereby the wider impacts of the technological change on the user groups are expected, the Human Factors aspects of the products and their integration within customer’s specific operational environment need to be considered and further assessed. The HF Assessment can be carried out during the safety lifecycle of those projects to ensure quality and the completeness of Human Factors activities within the project, as a part of as well as a support to an overall customer’s Human Factors Assessment.
The HF assessment is then performed in line with DEF STAN 00-251 on system solutions for the Defence domain and in line with EUROCONTROL’s HF Case on system solutions for the Air Traffic Management field. The aim of the HF assessment is to show that the objectives, work steps, and outputs resulting from HF activities have been considered and that the identification of HF issues has been carried out, resulting in the implementation of derived HF requirements identified as having a specific significance to safety.
