Underlying technologies

Seamless user experience. The core product, UTM-Suite, can be integrated with ATM automation systems on the airspace management side. On the UTM operations side, users can utilise the UTM Operation Manager to request flights, or the system can be integrated with their control centre application. Finally, the UTM-Suite offers full integration with a partner ecosystem, enabling a comprehensive and collaborative approach to unmanned traffic management, enhancing both operational efficiency and safety.

The UTM Suite offers essential services for managing drone operations. It comprises three key components: 

  • UTM Airspace Manager, designed for drone operators; 
  • UTM Traffic Manager, tailored for air traffic controllers and authorised third parties; and 
  • UTM Core Services, an integration module that delivers Common Information Services along with UTM and U-space functionalities.

Integration with ATM automation systems such as TowerPAD or PRISMA allows the presentation of drone flights directly on the air traffic controller’s screen. Additionally, the data can be distributed also directly to helicopters' onboard equipment, enabling pilots to see and manoeuvre safely around drone flights during missions. This service has been implemented in Norway with HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) .

On the drone operator side the integration with control centre solutions such as MissionX, MarTRX and Incident & Crisis Management (ICM) allows for automated flight planning directly in the first responder’s management system. This integration could also present information on drones and maritime vessels on a single screen, enabling easier guidance of drones directly to a moving vessel, for search and rescue or vessel inspection.

Frequentis cooperates with a number of third-party partners to enhance the solution with their innovative technologies. Here are a few examples: 

  • Integration applications such as SORA enable automated risk assessments for planned flights (see skyzr.com). 
  • Integration with Automated Drone Dispatching allows seamless connectivity of drone operators to the environment.
